Greg’s week runs like clockwork. He thrives on routine, it brings comfort, structure and a sense of control. But that doesn’t mean he’s not up for something new. Recently, Greg rolled up his sleeves in the garden, planting onions in preparation for BBQ season. His support worker Tommy puts it simply: “Greg proves it’s the simple things that matter most, and it’s the steady support that makes all the difference.”
Greg also helps out with errands for the eQuality Support office, a task he takes seriously. He’s known for his positive attitude and respectful nature. “Greg is deeply appreciative of all his DSWs,” says Matt. “He always communicates positively and says ‘they’re great.’”
Before joining eQuality Support, Greg lived in a Supported Residential Service (SRS). These days, he lives independently and enjoys having a say in what his days look like; from what he eats to where he goes and who he spends time with.
One of Greg’s favourite places is the Bunch of Grapes Hotel, where he’s a well-known regular. The staff and locals know him by name and recently gifted him a branded bucket hat to recognise his loyalty. “Supporting Greg, a lap around Lake Wendouree, a coffee in hand and a beer to finish, that’s his kind of day,” says Neel.
Greg’s support team describe him as smart, funny, and respectful, with a love for ABBA, a knack for maths, and a great sense of humour. Jasmine calls him a proud ABBA fan, while Sheridan says, “Greg’s shift is always the highlight of my fortnightly roster. You arrive on shift and find Greg bouncing out of bed with a ‘Good morning Sheridan’. His enthusiasm for being out and about brings such joy that the shift doesn’t feel like work—we’re simply hanging out and enjoying life.”
She added, “Greg once told me he sees me as strict yet relaxed. He makes me smile and reminds me how lucky I am to support him.”
Greg’s story is a reminder of what’s possible when support is built around the person, not just their needs, but their strengths, interests and goals. It’s about enabling independence, celebrating community, and making space for growth.
