Grant and Barry at the Holden FX-FJ Show & Shine

October 21, 2025
On Sunday 5 October, Grant and Barry took their love of classic cars to the Torquay foreshore for the Holden FX-FJ Show and Shine, and the day was full of chrome, laughter and connection.

Supported by their Disability Support Workers, Jacqui and Jenny, the pair explored more than 60 beautifully restored cars, including Barry’s favourites; hotted-up Holdens. Barry, a lifelong Holden fan, didn’t hesitate when given the choice of weekend outings:

“I don’t want to go to the BBQ. I want to go to that.”

Grant lit up when he spotted a car the same colour as his hat, waving his arms and smiling from ear to ear. Barry chatted with car owners and was delighted by the toy lions displayed in a few vehicles. One even moved its head, prompting laughter all around as Barry joked:

“Watch out, it’s gonna jump on you Baz!”

Jenny described their friendship as something truly special.
“They laugh together and have a special language, more laughter and nonsense words than real words. Barry understands Grant’s way of communicating and joins in. They laugh at nothing much, and then laugh at the laughing, which makes us laugh too.”

These moments: full of joy, choice and shared passions, reflect what eQuality Support is all about.

“This fills my heart,” said Jenny. “These outings and fun times are what it’s all about… giving each of them an enjoyable and full life.”

These are the moments that matter, where connection, choice and joy come together.

Every day, our support teams help people live full, meaningful lives, just like Grant and Barry.
