In this Q&A session, Jess will share her journey at eQuality Support and discuss important information about the NDIS.
June 2024
We’re excited to share some news from our team at eQuality Support! Jess, a familiar face around the support office, has recently stepped into the role of our new Quality and Compliance Officer. Since joining us in 2020, Jess has excelled in every role she’s taken on, contributing greatly to eQuality Support’s goals.
Let’s get to know Jess!
Let’s start with three words you would use to describe yourself.
Friendly, Dedicated, Hardworking.
Tell us about your time at eQuality Support? When did you join? Why do you enjoy working at eQS?
I joined eQuality Support in late 2020, starting in Training and Administration. In 2022, I moved into the role of HR Officer, and in 2023, I became an Executive Assistant. Now, I’m the Quality and Compliance Officer.
I love working at eQS because of the positive impact we have on people’s lives. The team here is amazing and knowledgeable, and it’s very rewarding to know that the work we do makes a real difference.
NDIS
How do you work with the NDIS in your new role?
In my role, I ensure that our services meet the high standards set by the NDIS. This means regularly reviewing our practices, assisting with training our staff, and making sure we follow all the rules and guidelines. I also help with audits and work on improving our services based on feedback from clients, staff, and the NDIS.
What do you think are 3 things people don’t know about the NDIS?
- Participants can manage their own plans: Participants can choose to manage their NDIS funding themselves, through a plan manager, or by the NDIS, giving them flexibility in how their supports are delivered.
- It covers more than just physical disabilities: The NDIS supports people with various disabilities, including intellectual, sensory, cognitive, and psychosocial disabilities.
- Support for families and carers: The NDIS also provides support for families and carers to help them in their role of supporting their loved ones. This includes training, respite care, and more.
The NDIS and wider disability industry is also constantly changing – for example, the Disability Royal Commission from last year provided 222 potential recommendations for change, to improve the lives of people with disability.
What are the NDIS’ key features?
The key features of the NDIS include:
- Choice and control: Participants have the freedom to choose their providers and manage their services, giving them control over their care.
- Focus on independence: The NDIS aims to help people with disabilities achieve greater independence, whether through support at home, in the community, or in finding work.
- Access to a wide range of supports: The NDIS funds various supports such as therapies, assistive technology, home modifications, and support workers to help participants achieve their goals.
