Empowering Lives at MaudCare: Alistair’s Journey and Community Connection

Hear from Alistair and his dedicated team about a day and a life at MaudCare Day Program.

September 2024

For anyone unfamiliar with MaudCare, the facility is based in Geelong and offers a variety of day programs for NDIS participants, ranging from arts and crafts to health and fitness.

Since opening the doors in August 2023, Alistair (fondly referred to as Al) was one of two participants to walk through the door. Initially attending one day per week, Al now enjoys four days, appreciating the connections he’s made with staff and fellow participants.

MaudCare Founder, Luke noted that Al has taken on the role of ‘rule keeper’. He takes great pride in showing new participants how to feed and look after our service dog ‘Sway’. Alistair’s love of animals is profound, he spends a great deal of time attending to our ducks, chickens and guinea pigs. Our staff encourage this strong connection to promote a sense of belonging and purpose.

For Al, attending MaudCare starts with his morning routine of assisting his Disability Support Worker (DSW) to pack lunch, grabbing a takeaway coffee and arriving on time to start the day. When asked about MaudCare, Al quickly highlights the animals and the community-based activities, with memorable outings to the tennis and cinema. His love of movies often becomes a highlight of the conversations.

“I simply love going to Maudcare. The staff love me and so does Sway”, said Alistair.

This connection and teamwork between eQuality Support and MaudCare day service extends beyond daily logistics, it’s about nurturing relationships that empower people to achieve their goals.

Together we can make a difference by coordinating services, providing a seamless transition between services, which in turn reduces stress for clients and share information and resources. Did we also mention building strong friendships along the way!

We truly thank services like MaudCare for the connection between clients, our staff, and the community.
