Disability Support Worker – Ballarat

We are on the hunt for some dedicated and compassionate Disability Support Workers.

Our clients vary with support requirements from 1:1 support, 2:1 support and shared models. 

Here is a summary of two of our clients in Ballarat we are recruiting for: 

Female client with an intellectual disability: early 20s, this client is seeking support to assist with daily living activities including cleaning, shopping, and meal preparation. As a Disability Support Worker, you will act as a mentor and companion, fostering independence and social integration.  

Young male clients with autism: In their 20s, these clients are looking for support workers to model positive behaviour support. At times, there may be 1:1 or 2:1 support model required. Your role will involve fostering a supportive environment that promotes independence and social skills development.  

Is this role for you?

You’ll be nurturing in your support and firm in your manner as required.You’ll know tactics to manage behaviours of concern, and you’ll have a calm nature.  

Clinical experience in catheters, hoist transfers, and pressure care, isn’t essential as training will be provided. You’re eager to learn from our Clinical team, comprised of experienced professionals with years of expertise across various nursing roles.

Work and hours

Based in Ballarat, this is a casual position 

  • Most shifts are8 hours longand you’re matched to work with a client. 
  • Shifts are assigned to you on a fortnightly roster. You can block out when you can’t work, plus we get to know your preferences. 
  • A commitment of20+ hours per weekis needed, including evenings, weekends, sleepovers and active nights.
  • Availability – weekdays, weekends, sleepovers and active nights.

Experience and qualifications

  • You’ll ideally have 1-2 years’ experience supporting the well-being and inclusion of people with complex behaviours. 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, particularly active listening.  
  • A minimum certificate III, diploma or qualification in disability or relevant area such as aged care, community services, or health. 
  • Relevant life or career experience – but mostly a passion for supporting people with disability!
