Disability Support Worker – Complex Supports

We’re looking for Personal Care Attendants, nursing students, and experienced Disability Support Workers to support people with spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, or acquired brain injury to live independently at home, or within Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA).

The people we support require specialised supports to manage their daily lives, which may include:

• Transfers and hoisting
• Pressure care/wound management
• Suprapubic catheter care (SPC)
• Complex diabetes management

In addition, the purpose of your role is to support clients to achieve their goals, enjoy life, and engage in community and social activities. You will support clients with their daily routines including personal care, assisting with medication, cleaning, and mealtime management.

There are multiple roles available, starting March 2024.

Is this you?

You’ll ideally have some clinical experience with catheters, hoists, and pressure care, but this isn’t essential as training will be provided. You’re eager to learn from our Clinical team, comprised of experienced professionals with years of expertise across various nursing roles.

Work and hours

Based in Geelong, this is a casual position.

• Most shifts are 8 hours long and you’re matched to work with a client
• Shifts are assigned to you on a fortnightly roster. You can block out when you can’t work, plus we get to know your preferences
• A commitment of 25+ hours per week is needed, including evenings, weekends, sleepovers, and active nights.

Experience and qualifications

• You’ll ideally have 1-2 years’ experience supporting the well-being and inclusion of people with disability, as well as clinical care experience
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, particularly active listening.
• A minimum certificate III, diploma or qualification in disability or relevant area such as aged care, community services, or health.
• Relevant life or career experience – but mostly a passion for supporting people with disability!
