Jenneh’s super strength is building relationships with clients. It was this, and her dedication to her clients, that named her January’s employee of the month.
Jenneh was humbled by her nomination and said she tries to put her client first at all times.
“I always put my client first and think of their needs before my own,” she said. “It helps me bond with my clients, and that makes my job a lot easier and more enjoyable.”
Jenneh recalled a shift where her relationship with a client helped to de-escalate his behaviour. She had just started her shift, only to find her client upset, frustrated, and annoyed. He wasn’t speaking with the people he lived with or his support workers.
But when Jenneh started talking with him, his mood changed instantly.
“As soon as I got there, he became super happy,” she said. “I think it’s because we have a really great bond, and he trusts me.”
Jenneh developed this bond over time. She and her client would chat together, laugh over shared jokes, and take time to socialise.
“Sometimes we stay up late together and watch movies – it’s a lot of fun,” she said.
Outside of work, Jenneh enjoys cooking, shopping trips, and relaxing at home.
