Meet our new Ballarat leader, Adam!

Introducing Adam, with 20 years of experience, to provide support and development for our growing Ballarat community.

April 2024

Written by Rose Davis

Our Ballarat Support Office team has grown by one! Adam began working with us this month as the Client Services Manager and recently made the move from McCallum. We’re thrilled to welcome Adam to the team!

We asked Adam a few questions about what type of leaders he is and what he has planned for our Ballarat team and growing community.

Let’s get to know Adam!

Let’s start with three words you would use to describe yourself and your biggest personal and business achievements to date.

Family, passionate, and determined.

My kids are my biggest personal achievement, and I am very proud of them.

From a business perspective, moving through the ranks from Support Worker to Executive Manager is my biggest achievement. I think my time as a Support worker has given me a good understanding of what it takes to be a great Support Worker and the challenges that come with the role.

I am also very proud of the many Support Workers I have managed who have transitioned to senior leadership roles such as Coordinator and Manager.

Leadership

What is your leadership style?

Collaborative. I like to work with the team to improve our service and get better outcomes for our clients and staff. It is important to celebrate the wins, no matter how small they might seem, but also recognise and acknowledge the things we can do better so we can work together to improve the service for our clients and the environment for our staff.

How do you motivate your team?

I empower them with information and tools, ensuring that all staff have the required information, training, and support so they can perform their jobs to the best of their ability and support our clients in achieving their goals. I make sure to be accessible and responsive to my team, so they feel comfortable sharing ideas and challenges.

What are your initial goals for the Ballarat team?

It has only been one week! However, I am very impressed with the quality of support being delivered, and this is driven by the fantastic Disability Support Workers, Client Services, and Clinical teams we have on board. My initial goal is to provide leadership enabling a collaborative environment where we are communicating effectively as a team and that our staff feel empowered to make decisions.

Regional Insight

As you have lived in Ballarat all your life, how have you seen the Ballarat disability sector change?

Disability has become a very competitive environment; there have been many new businesses established since the NDIS was introduced. Some of them have come and gone, and others have become established providers and deliver quality service to the community. The influx of providers into the region has created more choices for people living with a disability, which is a great thing. I also believe that it will increase the level of support being offered simply because people can freely move if the support is not of a high standard.

Future

What does 2024 look like for eQuality Support Ballarat?

I am excited for 2024 at eQuality! I am looking forward to leading the Ballarat team to create more opportunities for our clients and staff.

I believe that there is a real opportunity for eQuality Support to cement itself in the Ballarat community as the number one support provider for people living with complex clinical needs and intellectual disabilities. The model eQuality Support has in place, with support from the Clinical team working with the Client Services team, is exceptional and a clear standout from what other disability agencies can offer in the region.
